Last night, Pearl Jam kicked off the first night of their massive Australian tour with a thunderstorm, a dedication to Boy Swallows Universe characters Eli and Gus, and a Neil Young cover.
If you were following The Music’s adventures last night, you would have seen that the start time for the show was delayed due to a thunderstorm passing over the Gold Coast. Unfortunately, the Aussie support act Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers’ set was cancelled. Luckily, Pixies and Pearl Jam still put on a hell of a show at the Gold Coast’s People First Stadium.
Pearl Jam Delayed By Gold Coast Storms. Patrons kept from the stadium awaiting instructions. Update: The show will go on. Confirmed to be going ahead with revised set times soon to allow patrons later entry.

Now, Pearl Jam is one of those bands that changes their setlists every night, so this one won't be the norm throughout the rest of their Australian tour. But we’re still going to run through it—chances are, you’ll still hear a good batch of these songs in Melbourne and Sydney. Look away now if you don’t want spoilers!
The best thing about Pearl Jam sets is that no matter how many older songs they play, they never feel like a nostalgia act. Last night, they performed five classics from their debut album, Ten—Alive, Black, Even Flow, Porch, and Why Go—while promoting their new album, Dark Matter. Four songs were played from the latest LP.
The band also played classics like Better Man and Corduroy, Daughter, Given To Fly, Severed Hand, and their cover of Neil Young’s Rockin’ In The Free World.
Check out Pearl Jam’s 22-song setlist below.
Corduroy
Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
Given To Fly
Why Go
Quick Escape
React, Respond
Dark Matter
I Am Mine
Wreckage
Even Flow
I Got Id
Daughter
Got To Give
Severed Hand
Black
Porch
Encore:
Man Of The Hour
Do The Evolution
Breath
Better Man
Alive
Rockin' In The Free World (Neil Young cover)
Note: Nothingman, Just Breathe, Setting Sun, and Yellow Ledbetter were on the setlist but were not played. Rain (The Beatles) was listed as an alternate.
Pearl Jam’s Australian tour continues in Melbourne on Saturday (16 November) and next Monday (18 November) at Marvel Stadium before heading to Sydney next Thursday (21 November) and Saturday (23 November) at Engie Stadium. Hopefully, both local openers—Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers and Cosmic Psychos—will perform on the rest of their allocated dates.
