Pearl Jam Announce Local Openers For Australian Tour

Pearl Jam have revealed three exciting local acts that will open on their forthcoming Dark Matter tour of Australia and New Zealand, with additional special guests joining the fun alongside the Pixies.

As well as Pixies, Australian and New Zealand fans will be met with rock and roll and punk energy, with the following acts set to open on the following dates:

Liam Finn will open the shows in Auckland on Friday, 8, and Sunday, 10 November, while Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers are set to open Australian shows at the Gold Coast on Wednesday, 13 November, Melbourne on Monday, 18 November, and Sydney on Saturday, 23 November, and Cosmic Psychos will open shows in Melbourne on Saturday, 16 November, and Sydney on Thursday, 21 November.

Pearl Jam are touring in support of their latest album, Dark Matter, which was released in April of this year and debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

In reaction to their opening for Pearl Jam on three dates, Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers posted on Instagram today: “get fucked it doesn’t get eddie vedder than this. see yall in gold coast, melbourne and sydney 😭😭 #stadiumrockband”.

Pearl Jam’s forthcoming Australian tour has been a long time coming, not only because of the ten-year wait since their last appearance down under – at Big Day Out ten long years ago – but because they began teasing their imminent return at Christmas time.

In a review of Dark Matter, The Music’s Jessica Dale wrote: “It’s called Dark Matter, but honestly, I think this is the lightest and brightest thing they’ve made in years. There feels like there’s hope behind this album that we haven’t felt from them in a long time—if maybe ever before.”
