As we approach the end of 2023 and get closer to this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, the ABC has offered a first look at the upcoming festivities.
With Zan Rowe and Charlie Pickering hosting the event for another year, Rowe has teased the “incredible” music line-up that stars “powerhouse” Jessica Mauboy, King Stingray and Confidence Man, with more acts to be announced soon.
“I’m so excited to tell you that we have from Brisbane the incredible electric pop duo Confidence Man,” Rowe said via TV Tonight, calling it a show that “has to be seen to be believed” and praising King Stingray as “one of the best bands in Australia right now from Northeast Arnhem Land.”
On Jessica Mauboy, Rowe added, “The powerhouse, the legend, the myth, the magic that is Jessica Mauboy is going to be bringing in the New Year as well. This is just the tip of the iceberg. We’ll be announcing more artists very soon.”
The ABC’s New Year’s Eve broadcast from Sydney Harbour always brings in strong Australian acts, including Tina Arena, Missy Higgins, Casey Donovan, Genesis Owusu, Budjerah, Amy Shark, Odette, Gordi, Tyne James Organ, Shouse, Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Tones and I, Ball Park Music, Vika & Linda, Dami Im, Morgan Evans and Tasman Keith amongst others.
Mauboy’s appearance at the New Year’s Eve celebrations will be extra special for the singer, who will be gearing up to release her fifth album, Yours Forever, in February 2024. Yours Forever contains 14 tracks and is Mauboy’s debut release with Warner Music Australia, following her #1 ARIA album, Hilda, in 2019.

“YOURS FOREVER is me at my truest self, comfortable in my skin, not comparing myself or trying to be someone or something that anyone expects me to be,” Mauboy commented about her self-empowerment-driven new album.
“When you strip it all back, musically, it’s beautiful melodies, storytelling lyrics, rhythms that connect with the soul, and it has a depth that I’ve never gone to or shared before.”
Mauboy will be touring in support of Yours Forever in 2024.
