The hard-working folk-punks have a new album and tour dates in May

Newcastle-bred, Melbourne-based folk-punk outfit Fear Like Us have announced the release date for new album Succour, due out in a couple of months, as well as accompanying tour dates.

The LP, to be released on Poison City Records, promises to showcase the veteran band's diverse, melodic sounds and frontman Jamie Hay's lyrical exploration of political injustice and the modern Australian psyche.

With a career spanning 12 years, Fear Like Us have traversed many genres over the past decade and a bit and Succour boasts the band's acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, expansive drums and Hay's gravelly vocals. They have also inspired the careers of many other acts on the Poison City label.

Having shared stages with such outfits as The Smith Street Band, Against Me! and Blueline Medic, Fear Like Us will take their impassioned live show on the road in May, kicking off at Brisbane's Crowbar on Friday 13 May and encompassing dates in Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne, where they wrap the festivities at The Reverence Hotel on Saturday 28 May. They will be supported throughout the run by Newcastle indie-rockers Run Squirrel at all shows except Canberra.
