Major Facebook Live Overhaul To Benefit Online Gigs

Big changes are coming.

With more and more artists turning to live-streaming as a means to connect with fans, serious upgrades have been announced for Facebook Live.

The social media giant has confirmed that artists will be able to charge for live-streamed concerts, although no specific details around the feature and when it will launch have been revealed.

Facebook has, however, already implement a feature that allows streamers to add a donate button to live videos to help raise funds for non-profits.

The platform’s Live With feature will also be reinstated, which allows a user streaming to add another person to their live video, which will help bands come together and perform while in self-isolation.

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Instagram users will be able to live-stream videos from their desktop.

Facebook Live’s overhaul follows the launch of regular live music series Delivered, Live (YouTube/Facebook) and Isol-Aid (Instagram), one-off event Music From The Home Front and more in Australia.
