You Am IThe rights of some of Australian rock’s most iconic albums will be managed by ABC Music Publishing with the company signing a deal with Tim Rogers and You Am I.
As part of the agreement, confirmed to theMusic.com.au today, ABC land the publishing rights for Rogers’ future songs and the next You Am I studio album. Also included are the band’s first three records, 1993’s Sound As Ever, 1996’s Hourly Daily and 1995’s Hi Fi Way – the latter recently celebrating its 20th anniversary. Songs on those three albums include Berlin Chair, Purple Sneakers and Soldiers.
“We’re very happy ABC Music Publishing and [ABC Music Publishing Manager] Marianna Annas have given a couple of kids a chance,” Rogers said.
Rogers has fronted You Am I since 1989 and the band – which includes Andy Kent, Russell Hopkinson and Davey Lane – are one of Australia’s most enduring rock acts. Recent shows have been received well, with critics saying the band are looking as comfortable as ever.
In December 2014 the band released a box set of the first three albums and a live DVD of the band’s 2013 tour called Live Electrified. They’ll play the Moomba Festival and Kidgeeridge Music Festival in the coming months while Rogers will perform in Melbourne Theatre Company’s musical production of his 1999 What Rhymes With Cars & Girls solo album.
