"Why use fossil fuel-based products when you can now simply choose not to?"

Ahead of Earth Day on the 22nd of April, Evolution Music has announced a vinyl that is made from bioplastic.

The project has been researched and manufactured alongside music and sustainability experts, and has been described as "a more sustainable lower impact solution to the toxic impacts of producing PVC vinyl".

The National Physical Laboratory concluded that the bioplastic formula for the vinyl improves the listening experience, with "improved anti-static properties".

A range of industry voices have backed the creation of the vinyl.

Marc Carey of Evolution Music highlighted its importance to music communities, stating, "We see this product as the first in a new wave of solutions that will help to address some of the most important issues of our time.

"Having support and advocacy from leaders in the music industry, particularly those at the forefront tackling environmental and social issues, proves there’s a serious demand to move things forward, to turn around the huge impacts of the music industry, and quickly."

Fay Milton of Music Declares Emergency reflected this sentiment, stating, "Artists will be extremely keen to use Evolution Music’s bioplastic for their physical products, it’s a no-brainer, why use fossil fuel-based products when you can now simply choose not to? It feels like the Evolution Music team have quietly just created a revolution."
