The big music industry news overnight was that Download Festival is coming down to Australia sometime within the next two or so years.

Now, that's what I would say if it was ACTUALLY PUBLICALLY FUCKING CONFIRMED!

See, Download Festival and Live Nation promoter, Andy Coping, "recently" responded to punters on Twitter, hinting at the possibility of the massive European heavy music fest taking the trip Down Under. As you can imagine, people have lost their shit over this "news". See his Tweets below.

Overnight some sites have seemingly jumped the gun in this announcement (especially one that rhymes with 'Kusic Reeds'). But I mean, sure, it could very well happen and it would probably be the best thing since, well, Soundwave Festival! With the pull and brand name of that festival alone, we could be seeing a wide palette of new and old bands coming over for it, as well as some larger than life acts that deeply crack into that 'nostalgia' market. But that's if it happens.

However, one must never forget that Soundwave Festival promoter, AJ Maddah, was very public in his artist confirmations, his rants and his beef on Twitter and look how well that all turned out.

Likewise, Coping hasn't said anything more through his Twitter account from what I can see, so time will most definitely tell on this one.

Now, while the rumours of Download jumping continents have been circulating for a fair while, this whole scenario adds some weight to those rumours. But it ain't a definite 'yes', so let's all calm our tits for a bit, yeah? As my general rule of life states, approach everything with careful cynicism. That way you'll never be disappointed!

Don't worry, I plan to have that engraved on my tombstone, too.

Of course, I hope that I am not disappointed, as I have rarely if ever, heard bad things said about Download Festival and it would really fill the gap that ol' Soundwave left upon its demise. So, here's hoping!

And speaking of music festivals, Legion Music Fest is still going ahead next year. Apparently. Oh, what's that? You forgot that Legion was happening? Yeah, me too.
