It references Apple's FaceTime
Following Guy Sebastian's successful turn as Australia's very first Eurovision entry last year, we announced Korean-Australian songstress Dami Im last month as the 2016's representative for the world's most popular song contest. However, scandal seems to be following Im's entry, Sound Of Silence, with reports emerging that it may be breaching Eurovision's rulebook.
As Popbitch reports, Sound Of Silence's second line references Apple's video-calling app — "Trying to feel your love through FaceTime" — which appears to breach rule 1.2.2. section h) of Eurovision's 2016 rulebook.
The section states, "No messages promoting any organization, institution, political cause or other, company, brand, products or services shall be allowed in the Shows and within any official ESC premises (i.e. at the venue, the Eurovision village, the Press Centre, etc.). A breach of this rule may result in disqualification."
A similar issue surfaced in 2012, where San Marino were ordered to rewrite and rename their song Facebook Uh, Oh, Oh to The Social Network Song (Oh Oh Uh Oh Oh), due to its reference to the ever-popular social network. In 2014, Belarus were also reportedly asked to edit a lyric in their song Cheesecake, which referenced Google Maps.

This time, however, it has been suggested that Eurovision have kept unusually quiet about Australia's possible breach, perhaps as preferential treatment towards Apple over Facebook or Google. Others have suggested it may have something to do with SBS's upcoming Asia Pacific version of the global competition.
Im has this morning announced a huge 35-date national tour starting 1 July, in support of her upcoming Classic Carpenters homage album.
theMusic.com.au have contacted Dami Im's label Sony Music Australia and Eurovision for comment.
