On Thursday (28 September), the new movie starring Delta Goodrem alongside Joshua Sasse, Love Is In The Air, premiered on Netflix.

After just a few days, Goodrem’s first movie since the 2005 teen flick Hating Alison Ashley debuted at #1 in the US and Canada, and is currently the #1 Netflix movie globally.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR IS THE #1 NETFLIX MOVIE GLOBALLY AND IN THE US AND CANADA AND 30 OTHER COUNTRIES,” Goodrem exclaimed on Facebook on Saturday (30 September). “Top 3 in 60 something!!!! What!! Fly movie fly!!!! Soooo happy”.

In a film review on Decider, writer Liz Kocan wrote, “Love Is In The Air is essentially You’ve Got Mail cruising at an altitude of 15,000 feet. He’s got big plans to buy out her independent little airline; she’s fierce and won’t be sold, and by the end, they fall in love. Meg and Tom walked so Delta and Joshua could fly.”

Love Is In The Air’s official synopsis reads: “This rom-com stars Aussie golden girl Delta Goodrem as a seaplane pilot who finds herself reluctantly falling for a man who’s slowly sinking her business. Filmed in Airlie Beach, if Delta doesn’t make you swoon, the stunning backdrop of Queensland’s Whitsundays certainly will.”

In August, Goodrem released the sunny, uplifting single, Back To Your Heart – her first new music since her #1 ARIA charting album, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, was released in 2021. The song arrived just weeks before the release date for Love Is In The Air, which is available to watch now on Netflix. You can watch the trailer below.

Last week, The Music reviewer Monique La Terra caught Delta Goodrem on her Innocent Eyes 20th-anniversary tour at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall. La Terra concluded, “Finally giving fans the album tour they never got to see, Delta’s Innocent Eyes Anniversary Tour is a chronicle of her life 20 years ago and a celebration of all that has happened since.”
