Dr. Elephant frontman required four stitches

The frontman for Darwin band Dr. Elephant has been glassed in the face during an incident at a pub over the weekend.

The NT News reports that the band's Damien Wicks had an altercation with a man who was dancing with beer bottle and plastic cup while out for a friend's birthday. After the man's drink in the plastic cup was spilt on him, Wicks told the paper, “I took [the drink] out of his hand and moved it and next thing you know he hit me with the stubby.”

Despite requiring four stitches to his eyebrow, Wicks did not press charges to police who attended the scene.

“I think there's a lot of dickheads out there, I don't know how you can control it, the police and security are the doing the best they can but they can't monitor every single person every second,” Wicks said.

The incident took place at The Vic Hotel. The pub is renowned for attracting backpackers and allowing dancing on the tables.

Dr. Elephant describe themselves as the city's “longest running party/pub/cover band”.
