Courtney Love has seen the reunion tour rumours, and she’s put them to rest.
After surprising fans with a video of Hole bandmate Melissa Auf der Maur this week, Courtney Love has confirmed that the whole band is not getting back together to tour, but she and Auf der Maur will be hitting the road together.
Earlier this week, Love shared a video of Auf der Maur on Instagram with Hole’s hit, Malibu, playing in the background. She tagged her Hole bandmate in the caption and wrote, “So do we tell the kids about the tour @xmadmx?”
Responding to the question fans have dreamed of for decades, Auf der Maur wrote, “it starts with eternal love…”.
Speculation about a Hole reunion tour, naturally, arose. Love spotted an Instagram post about the rumours, shared by Spin Magazine, and commented, “No Hole reunion.” However, she added that she and Auf der Maur would be “playing some shows, new songs.”
Love then added a comment to her original post, where she wrote, “Me and @xmadmx touring new songs.”

The classic line-up of Hole has been on hiatus since 2002, following a co-headlining tour with Marilyn Manson. Love tried to bring the band back together between 2009 and 2012 – albeit with different band members – but the reunion didn’t last long.
Love last teased a Hole reunion in 2024. At the time, she appeared on stage with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong as he performed with his tribute band, The Coverups, in London.
During the show, she informed punters that she’d be back with Hole “later.”
Addressing the audience, Love said: “My name is Courtney Love – you may not remember me. I’ve been living in a cave in Birmingham for about nine years. We’ll give this a fucking try, right?”
The Hole teaser came towards the end of her time on stage (about seven minutes), when she thanked the audience and vowed, “Later… I’ll be back in Hole.”
That moment came after Love shot down speculation around a Hole reunion in 2021, when she told Vogue that fans should stop getting their hopes up.
“A proper Hole reunion will absolutely not [be happening],” she commented in an interview. “You guys have gotta get over it. Our old manager, Peter Mensch, calls once a year to ask about a reunion. I’m so honoured to be in that company, but it’s just not gonna happen.”
