Almost 34 years to the day since the iconic moment took place, Channel 7 will be taking viewers behind the scenes of music history with the premiere of INXS Live At Wembley.
Described as an exclusive look at “one of the most electrifying moments in rock history,” the forthcoming special will premiere on Sunday, August 10th.
Featuring narration by Michael Usher and interviews with band members Jon Farriss and Kirk Pengilly, the event will see the musicians revisit the legendary gig as they guide viewers through the set song by song.
Farriss and Pengilly will also dive deep into their own history with personal stories and memories of the events that led to them becoming one of Australia’s biggest-ever musical exports.
Taking place on July 13, 1991 as part of their X Factor tour in support of 1990’s X album, the Wembley Stadium gig remains one of the band's finest moments.

Largely comprised of material from their world-beating Kick album and the still-fresh X record, the sold-out show saw the band performing in from of a massive 72,000 fans, and cemented their status as one of the biggest bands in the world at the time.
“It was just another stadium show…or was it?” asks Pengilly. “The most iconic stadium in the world, and we sold it out. Incredible. The guest list alone was over 2,000 people.
“It was an unforgettable, electrifying night that I will be forever proud and grateful that we captured it on film.”
News of the forthcoming program comes shortly after INXS were announced as the winners of triple j’s recent Hottest 100 Of Australian Songs poll with Never Tear Us Apart.
Released as the fourth single from 1987’s Kick, the iconic track has long been one of the band’s most popular, and has now been dubbed the country’s favourite homegrown tune.
The band’s success saw them beat out the likes of the Hilltop Hoods, The Veronicas, Missy Higgins, Powderfinger, and more to take out the top honour.
