Australian actor Cate Blanchett hasn’t shied away from her distaste of Donald Trump, and on top of labelling his presidency “absurd and ridiculous” on Fallon earlier this week, she has also been throwing her support by the Women’s Marches on Broadway this past week.
Blanchett is currently starring in Sydney Theatre Company's 2015 hit The Present – an adaptation Anton Chekhov's play – and at curtain call this past week, the cast, which includes Richard Roxburgh and other Aussie actors, have been wearing Pink Pussyhats - a symbol that arose from the Women’s Marches across the weekend.
Adapted by Blanchett’s husband, Andrew Upton, The Present is the first time Sydney Theatre Company has opened a show on Broadway, after previously venturing to New York with Blanchett with Hedda Gabler, A Streetcar Named Desire and more in recent years.
We gave The Present four-and-a half stars when it opened in Sydney.
