After six whirlwind years that helped reshape the face of Australian country music, Casey Barnes and Chugg Music have officially ended their working relationship and by all accounts, it’s nothing but love and respect between the two.

Announced today, the amicable split brings to a close a partnership that saw Barnes rise from promising local talent to one of Australia’s most decorated and internationally recognised country artists. Under Chugg Music’s management, Barnes racked up multiple ARIA, APRA, and Golden Guitar Awards, and released several chart topping albums and singles that solidified his mainstream crossover appeal.

One of the standout moments of their time together came in 2024, when Barnes made history as one of the first Australian artists to play California’s iconic Stagecoach Festival, a landmark step in his growing footprint in the USA.

“We are very proud of the part we have played in Casey's success, which has been a major part of the growth of Australian country music both at home and internationally,” said Michael Chugg of Chugg Music. “This success will continue for Casey, we have no doubt.”

While the split comes as a shock and surprise to fans, both parties are framing it as a natural next step in Barnes’ evolution, a decision driven by timing and vision rather than a fallout.

“I'm incredibly grateful for everything we've accomplished together over the past six years, and I'll always look back on this chapter with pride and appreciation,” Barnes said. “The time feels right for a fresh start, and I'm excited to see what new opportunities lie ahead as we continue to build on the amazing momentum both here in Australia and internationally. I can't wait to share the next chapter of this journey.”

Since signing with Chugg Music, Barnes has become one of the most recognisable names in modern country, known for his high energy live shows, catchy chart toppers and a growing fanbase both locally and abroad.

With a resume packed with accolades and a career still very much on the rise, Barnes enters this new chapter with plenty of momentum. And for Chugg Music, a powerhouse name in artist development, the split underscores their track record of helping to launch and support genre-defining careers.

No announcements have yet been made regarding Barnes’ future management or label representation, but fans can likely expect new music, international touring, and big moves on the horizon.
