Investigation is underway.

Reports that a "British pop legend" raped a 14-year-old girl have escalated in recent days following the release of a photograph of the musician posing with the alleged victim.

According to The Sun, the popstar in question cannot be named for legal reasons, however a video of the alleged victim naming him while recounting her harrowing claims, alleged to have occurred in South Africa in the '70s, have already been viewed thousands of times online.

The musician has not been arrested, charged or questioned at this time.

The alleged victim, now in her 50's, claims that she and a friend were picked out of the crowd by the artist's bodyguard and invited back to his hotel the next day where he posed with them for photographs.

"He offered me Dom Perignon Champagne," the woman said.

"I didn't know what it was at the time. It looked like soda.

"You just feel you have to be with the crowd so I took a sip and thought it was the most vile tasting thing I'd ever had.

"All I wanted to do was get it down in one gulp then get it out of the way. That is what I did, not realising I was now drinking alcohol for the first time.

"Then he gave me another glass and was telling me how lovely I was…  and you have beautiful eyes… I really like you… and he carried on with this flirtatiousness. Before I knew it, it was like an immobility had set in there and then. He had me down on the bed in one fell swoop."

The woman reportedly emailed the allegations to Scotland Yard in 2013, however since the incident in question is believed to have occurred overseas, it fell out of their jurisdiction.

While an official probe was opened the following year, it was closed just six months later, before a new prosector and investigating officer were brought in just last month.
