Brisbane's inner city will ring heavy with the sounds of live music over the next two weekends as contemporary youth music program The QUBE Effect makes its return to the Queensland capital from tomorrow, 9 April.
Over the course of two weekends during Youth Week (4-17 April, which, yes, is longer than a week), 24 acts will perform 20-minutes sets to a live audience before cramming themselves into transparent QUBEs (cubes) to perform their favourite song, for a shot at $4000 in The QUBE Effect People's Choice Competition.
Tomorrow's event runs from 11am to 5pm at Melbourne Street Garden, QPAC, featuring sets from Angharad Drake, Big Bad Echo, Big Dead, Brad Butcher, Graham Moes, Jack Gray, Keelan Mak, Luna Lux, MKO SUN, Mzaza, The Keepaways and Valtozash.
It will be followed by a second QUBE Effect event in the Valley malls (Brunswick St & Chinatown) at the same time on Sunday 17 April, with that day's performers including Baskervillain, Blonde On Blonde, BW Brown, Deena, Francesca De Valence, Fresco, Georgia Mae, Omegachild, Quintessential Doll, The Con & The Liar, The Ninjas and Vulture Circus.
