The band have lined up five shows through till late April
Brisbane-based soul-jazz wizards Captain Dreamboat are ramping up for the arrival of their new single, Modern Love, later this month, announcing an accompanying run of Queensland and NSW shows in support of the release.
The band — which is centred on frontwoman Ofa Fanaika, a staple of the West End music scene, solo artist and member of well-loved local dub/reggae act Chocolate Strings — will release the new track before kicking off their run of shows two days later, on Saturday 25 March, with a festival spot at this year's Concrete Jungle event, at an as-yet-unrevealed location in Brissy.
Beyond that, they've got headline shows slated in Bellingen, Brisbane, Byron Bay and Noosa, where they finish up just under a month later on Friday 21 April, at The J.
The new track is a celebration of unbounded love, free of societal constraints and expectations placed upon people to adhere to traditional gender and sexual roles; a rallying cry for anyone who's ever been made to feel as though their sense of intimacy invites scrutiny.

This openness and belief in free love is a recurrent theme in Fanaika's work, and she works tirelessly to advocate for marginalised communities in her daily life and her music.
"We can mask ourselves into the ideas that we need to fit in with how we present our identity, because we are born female we must love male and vice versa," she said in a statement. "We have to move past the veils of biological sex into the idea that gender is a social construct."
Bursting out of the local scene in 2012 while Fanaika's band Chocolate Strings was on a hiatus — and releasing their debut EP, Falling For You, in 2014 — Captain Dreamboat benefits from its ranks' broad experience as musicians, with the current line-up including Nathan Macgregor (Big Dead, HRBRT), Lee Brackenborough (Moreton, Big Dead), Travis Jenkins (One Dragon Two Dragon) and Chris McKelliget (Chocolate Strings, Signature Series).
You can often catch them at weekly jam session Church, at West End's renowned Bearded Lady — the same event series that saw Guns N' Roses drummer Frank Ferrer rear his head to take part in a 10-minute improv session back in February.
Modern Love was recorded at Green Chimney Records, with mixing and mastering by Peet Gardner (Laneous & The Family Yah, MKO Sun). It will be released on Thursday 23 March. Head to Captain Dreamboat's Facebook for more information.
