Race day at the Melbourne Grand Prix will be fun. Daniel Ricciardo is back at Red Bull, albeit as a reserve driver, and Melbourne's own Oscar Piastri will make his Formula 1 debut at his hometown race driving for McLaren.

Even better, Australian artists will perform at the local Grand Prix. Adam Weston from Birds Of Tokyo revealed that the band would play on race day.

Weston wrote on social media, "The Birds camp are beyond excited to be taking our show to the F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne next April. It’s one of the greatest sporting spectacles on the calendar, and there's nothing quite like the sound of Formula 1. We'll be soaking up as much of the high-octane atmosphere as possible!"

The popular Plans band will be joined by Sneaky Sound System.

"LET'S GO MELBOURNE," the electro-pop group posted online with a checkered flag. The F1 Australian Grand Prix social media page has also teased more musical guests will be announced.

Birds Of Tokyo recently revealed the game-changing artists coming from their home city of Perth. Weston, Glenn Sarangapany, and Ian Berney chose Methyl Ethel cuts, while Ian Kenny picked Tame Impala and Adam Spark cited Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. Read more about their picks here.

The inaugural AusGP Sessions - a four-day music and Formula 1 event - were supposed to occur in March 2020, and we all know why that didn't happen. The initial event would have hosted Peking Duk, Client Liaison, Bag Raiders, CXLOE, Mashd N Kutcher and many more.

“We’re thrilled to bring some of the country’s hottest live music to the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in 2020 to create an electrifying atmosphere, lakeside at Albert Park," Australian Grand Prix Corporation General Manager – Motorsport, Entertainment & Industry, Craig Fletcher, said.

“Music is an important element of the overall Formula 1 experience, and AusGP Sessions in Melbourne is the place to be.”
