Melbourne folk punk band Between The Wars are proud to announce their new album "Won't Go Quietly" is now on sale for pre-order. The album itself is released on St Patrick's Day through Slippery Slope Recordings (who released Bateman's EP "Ultra Violence" in 2012). As part of the announcement, the band has released a full stream of the new record over at Soundcloud - http://www.soundcloud.com/betweenthewars/wont-go-quietly.
The new album shows are more surefooted, mature band, with the requisite folk tales and drunken singalongs as well as some softer songs, with a definitive move from the more traditional celtic punk from previous records to being more straight-out folk punk, having been cooped up writing this album since December 2011. The band took their influential cues from Frank Turner, Jamie Hay, the Smith Street Band and Midlake which shows in a record which takes some different steps compared to their previous three releases (2010's "Carried Away", 2011's "The Rats" and 2012's "New Ruins" split with Germans the Buccaneers and English folk punkers the Roughneck Riot). Vocalist and guitarist Jay takes the lead vocal on the majority of the songs, however two songs are sung by uke player Jason and one by mandolinist and electric guitarist Aaron. Lyrically, the band have continued on from previous releases, with stories telling tales of a life at sea, the life of a poverty-stricken English miner as well as sad, drunken escapades.
The band return to the stage next month for the first time in five months, heading off on a short run of shows over the month or so after the album's release.
Pre-orders for "Won't Go Quietly" are now available on the Slippery Slope Recordings online store - http://slipperyslope.bandcamp.com/album/wont-go-quietly.
