Dan Hannaford will now perform at the event later this month
Ballina native Dan Hannaford has been announced as the winner of this year's Mullum Music Festival protest song competition, for his self-penned anthem to musicians being fully appreciated and valued.
Hannaford, whose music is a blend of blues, country, rock and soul, wrote Payday for the comp, a song he described as "a rally cry for working musicians and artists to unite around the world."
The win will see Hannaford get the opportunity to perform at this year's Mullum Music Festival, which takes place Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 November, as well as the Byron Bay leg of Falls Festival over the New Year period.
Hannaford will release his new album I Cried Bullets early next year. The LP will feature his contest-winning song Payday.
