After nine long years, Sydney dance legends Bag Raiders will finally release their second studio album, Horizons, this year... so the question must be asked, what took them so long?

Appearing on the latest episode of The Music Podcast, Jack Glass and Chris Stracey discussed the record, which they confirmed will drop in "quarter three" of 2019.

"It's been a long time," Glass said.

"A lot of highs and lows. We've toured a lot, we lived in America, we wrote a lot."

Stracey added, "We've had an album's worth of music that we've brought out in EPs.

"I think it was not having patience to wait a long time and then go, 'Here's an album!' We've just had stuff that we were like, 'This is good, let's put it out now.'"

Bag Raiders' self-titled debut album was released in October 2010 and peaked at #7 on the ARIA Albums chart.

Fans got the first taste of the 12-track Horizons LP in February, with the release of Lightning featuring fellow Aussie act The Kite String Tangle.

The duo also confirmed all cameos featured on the album are Australian artists.

"It wasn't a plan at the beginning," Glass said.

"But once it started formulating, we just saw how much good stuff there was going on here and playing into the idea that we don't want the culture and music and all these opportunities we had to die out for these young people coming through.

"It felt really good to do an album that had all Australian vocals on it."

Bag Raiders have continued to impact the Australian and US dance scene in recent years, thanks to a viral meme which saw their 2009 breakout hit, Shooting Stars, crack the global music charts.
