It's the world's fest major label release for non-humans

Remember the A+ human and classically trained musician that wanted to create an album "scientifically proven" to be enjoyed by your cats? Well, after he raised an incredible $241,651 (like, $220,000 more than he required to reach his Kickstarter goal), Universal Music contacted him and signed him for the very first major label non-human release ever

Happy cats, happy muso.

American National Symphony Orchestra cellist David Teie has done stacks of research to compose Music For Cats, five compositions that are supposed to be calming and enjoyable for your feline friends. Having already sold 10,000 copies independently, Universal Music jumped at the chance to release Music For Cats internationally.

A Universal Music spokesperson said, "We’re thrilled to be part of this world-first project and break into the massive untapped market of non-human music fans. The possibilities are endless for more species specific ‘Music For’ albums: dogs and horses could all be on the cards.

"David Teie’s creative ideas, passion and solid research has laid the perfect foundation for success and in his words, “A hundred years from now people will have to be taught that music was once only for humans".”

Music For Cats is due out on 28 October, before which The Music will play it for our cats and post a review of the album that hopefully looks like this:
