It seems our politicians are making the right mates overseas at the moment, with both Julia Gillard and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull meeting and befriending music royalty over the last couple of days.
Gillard and pop mega-star Rihanna got friendly at the Global Citizen Festival in New York this weekend, after the former PM unveiled a partnership with the Barbadian singer as the Global Partnership For Education's new ambassador, an organisation Gillard currently chairs.
As Fairfax reports, the organisation serves to bring education to children in over 60 developing countries, a cause that Rihanna says she "[feels] strongly" about.
