The award-winning event returns to Currumbin Creek in October
Currumbin's fourth annual Buskers By The Creek event returns to the Gold Coast in October, and organisers are starting to shore up their line-up of acts by opening applications for this year's event.
More than 20,000 punters are expected to roll through the festival grounds to experience some A-class entertainment from musicians, magicians, contortionists and more — all of whom are welcome to apply for a spot on the line-up — following last year's record attendance, making Buskers By The Creek one of the country's best opportunities for the nation's buskers to get a solid platform from which to ply their wares.
"In true Buskers By The Creek style, 2017 will see even more incredible entertainment from award-winning performers, talented teens, jaw-dropping tricks, daring world record attempts and more waterborne magic," event founder Cindy Jensen said.
"We are so excited to now invite applications, as there are always so many fabulous surprises and talent discoveries."

In addition, the 2017 event will see Buskers By The Creek team up with fellow acclaimed regional event Airlie Beach Festival Of Music to bolster the prize on offer at the end of the annual Battle Of The Buskers competition, which this year includes a guaranteed spot in the Byron Bay Bluesfest busking competition, cash money, recording, publicity and advertising packages and an all-expenses-paid appearance at the Airlie Beach event.
"The talent being discovered at Buskers By The Creek is phenomenal, and we’re stoked to be on-board as a talent sponsor to provide further festival performance opportunities for artists," Airlie Beach fest director Gavin Butlin said in a statement.
Previous iterations of the festival have welcomed the likes of Dan Hannaford, Ash Perrow, Karl S. Williams, Grizzlee Train, Hussy Hicks, Adam Brand, The Lyrical, Juzzie Smith, Ruby Rubberlegs, Electrik Lemonade and more, and this year promises to attract a typically excellent and eclectic range of artists to the banks of Currumbin Creek.
"Buskers By The Creek is one of the most exciting and freshest events in the Australian music calendar," Brand enthused of the event. "It was a real eye-opener for me and could very well be the launching pad for the next Australian superstar act."
The application period lasts until Monday 14 August and successful acts will be notified on Thursday 31 August, ahead of the event's return at Winders Park on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October.
