The festival state strikes again
It’s no secret that there’s a creative movement of global proportion taking place in South Australia, and a recent report from Adelaide Festival reinforces that, showing significant economic benefits from the 2016 event.
This year’s 18-day event ran through February and March with an eclectic bill that boasted seven global premieres, 20 Australian premieres and more, breaking previous records with a reported $78.3 million generated for the state - a 22% increase on the previous two years.
The impressive new figure was assisted by a 7% rise in visitors to the state and follows on from Adelaide Fringe and WOMAdelaide also breaking records this year.
“Adelaide Festival’s economic impact continues to grow year on year, providing a vital injection to the state’s economy,” said Adelaide Festival chair Judy Potter.

“We are proud of our status as a destination event, and it is encouraging in the current economic climate to see our visitor related expenditure increase at such a significant rate.”
