The SharpFamous for their black skivvies, 90s rockabilly trio The Sharp are back and ready for action. And they’re now a foursome.
With classic Aussie tunes like Train Of Thought, Talking Sly, Scratch My Back and Alone Like Me, the group saw great chart and national touring success with a short but sharp (see what we did there) career in the early 90s before calling it a day in 1995.
Featuring original members Charlie Rooke (guitar and vocals) and drummer Piet Collins, The Sharp replaced double bass player and vocalist Allan Catlin with The Living End’s Scott Owen and Melbourne entertainer Louie Lee Feltrin, known for his shows performing in The Robbie Williams Experience, is the new lead vocalist.
When The Sharp initially announced their reformation last month, they had Wasabi singer Lee Harding on board. However, according to a recent announcement shared by the band, Harding “was unable to commit to all the upcoming shows and has now withdrawn”.
Now that they’re back with a line-up committed to touring, The Sharp have revealed they’re hitting the road.
At the time of writing, only two tour dates have been announced, both taking place in Victoria.
The Sharp will perform at the Sooki Lounge on Friday, 26 July, and at The Bundy (Bundalaguah & Myrtlebank Hall) in Bundalaguah on Saturday, 27 July. You can find tickets here.
The original line-up of The Sharp formed in 1990 and quickly developed a cult following across Melbourne thanks to their high-energy shows and relentless touring schedule.
Alone Like Me, released in 1994, gave the band their highest-charting single on the ARIA Singles Chart, reaching the Top 20. Their debut album, 1993’s This Is The Sharp, landed at #13 on the ARIA Albums Chart, while 1994’s follow-up LP, Sonic Tripod, also reached #13.
After disbanding in October 1995, The Sharp played a reunion gig in 2000, played a few more in 2010, and then announced their return last month.
