Ali Barter, Nick Cave & More Join 2019 Aus Music Prize Nominations List

The final round of nominees for the Australian Music Prize have been announced, with 107 local releases now vying for the prestigious and highly-coveted award.

Among the new additions are Ali Barter, Archie Roach, Bad//Dreems, Ceres, DZ Deathrays, Holy Holy, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Sampa The Great, WAAX and more.

“For this 15th prize we expanded the judging panel and created three separate stages of judging, with the first stage now complete,” Australian Music Prize director Scott Murphy said.

“Around 40 judges listened to a record number of 454 eligible Australian album releases and have delivered a list of 107 albums – the best of 2019. We thank the panel of stage one judges for their time and effort.

“The second stage judges started listening to nominated albums from August and are busy right now familiarising themselves with all 107 nominated albums – their job is to eliminate 98 of them so that in January we can announce a shortlist of nine – good luck!”

Previously announced nominees include Amyl & The Sniffers, Jimmy Barnes, Dope Lemon, Art Of Fighting, Pond, Robert Forster, Sarah Mary Chadwick, Thelma Plum, Cub Sport, Alex Lahey, Stella Donnelly and more.

The 2019 AMP winner will be announced in March next year, with the winner receiving $30,000 in prize money. See the full nominations list so far below.
