Australia’s hit machine family band, Sheppard, are relocating to Nashville in October – the perfect location for Amy Sheppard and her solo country music career.

With the band finding the US to be their biggest market, the move makes sense, even if it’s a challenge. “We are such proud Australians, so it’s very exciting for us to represent over in Nashville,” Amy Sheppard said in a press release.

The family trio plan to play for their fans overseas and spend more time in Los Angeles and New York. However, the biggest perk arrives in travel, with Sheppard no longer needing to endure 24+ hour flights to Europe for shows in markets such as the UK and the Netherlands.

“It’s a big risk, but we feel the Sheppard sound and brand have evolved enough for us to make the move and commit a few years to this,” Amy Sheppard added. “We will definitely be coming back and forth, so our Australian audiences will still be seeing us!”

Before the big move, Sheppard will delight their fans on the Gold Coast with a two-week residency at Queensland’s Warner Bros Movie World.

The residency entails daily performances at Movie World from 15 September until 2 October (excluding 23 September). You can enjoy the band’s Music On Main performances with a valid Movie World Single Day or Village Roadshow Pass – more information is available here.

At the time of writing, Amy Sheppard is also slated to return to Australia in January, opening for Travis Collins on his Tamworth One Of Them Nights show with fellow special guests Lane Pittman and Sara Berki.

Bass player Emma Sheppard said about their Movie World residency, “We never feel more at home than we do on the stage, and to be part of something so fun and magical at Warner Bros Movie World is an amazing opportunity. We can’t wait to be part of the fun, play our favourite songs in the Queensland sunshine and bring the good vibes!”

In April, George Sheppard tied the knot with his longtime partner, physiotherapist Kathleen Seagar after popping the question in May 2021.

To celebrate his marriage, George Sheppard released his debut solo single, Feels Like Home. Upon the track's release, the band wrote on social media, “A beautiful love letter to his brand new wife Kathleen, Feels Like Home is the debut solo single from our very own George Sheppard.” You can listen to the song here
