What?
After a bittersweet farewell in 2023, Sydney’s cult grunge-punk aka Shitty Grunge trio The Dead Love are officially back in AU for a run of intimate shows!! The band has announced their highly anticipated reunion Tour, marking a triumphant return to the stage and reigniting the fire that made them one of Australia’s most relentless and influential underground bands.
Formed in 2010, The Dead Love quickly carved out a reputation for their raw energy, DIY ethos, and emotionally charged songwriting. Over the years, they’ve released three acclaimed albums, including the fan-favourite So Whatever and the genre-defying The Extinction of Unicorns, which earned widespread praise, Tripe J rotations, festival slots and Spotify playlist placements and covers across Rock Out, Local Noise, and New Music Friday to name just a respective few.
The Dead Love have toured extensively across Australia and internationally, sharing stages with acts like Grinspoon, Stand Atlantic, and DZ Deathrays. Their 2019 and 2022 UK/EU tours saw them play iconic venues in London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Leeds and many more building a loyal global fanbase.
Despite being “near ignored by many parts of the Australian music industry,” bassist Clint Ossington reflected, “We succeeded in being a success, because we measure that by the experiences we’ve had all over the globe as a band”
Their single Sugarcoat was hailed as “a bit of a new grunge hit” by Triple J’s Linda Marigliano, while Richard Kingsmill praised their work: “When it’s done right, it’s done right… and they’ve done it really well”
The band’s final release before their split or hiatus tbc, Treading Water, was described by Phonotonal as “nothing short of stunning,” with tracks like Pulling Teeth and Antisocial showcasing “compositional complexity that goes well beyond your typical song structure”
The Dead Love are returning with new energy, alongside the same unapologetic spirit that made them a staple of Australia’s underground rock scene, the band has not commented on if this is a one of run of shows or not so best be quick as there are limited tickets available!
“We’ve had time to breathe, to grow, and to remember why we started this in the first place, I’ll be back in Australia in January so we all said why the fuck not! This tour is for everyone who ever supported and, just because we fkn love doing it!" -frontman Stevie Knight.
The “Back From The Dead Love” Tour hits major cities January 2026.
