Newly minted Melburnian musician Steve Grady may have recently relocated from Brisbane to Victoria, but his impending third album, Something To Fall Back On, still sports more than just a shade of Queensland to its make-up.
The new LP was recorded in the idyllic surrounds of Woodford along with an album by Josh Rennie-Hynes, with whom Grady has quite the collaborative history, having toured Australia and the US together over the past few years. Rennie-Hynes also helped Grady lay down the instrumentals on his full-length, though it also features the guest talents of Salliana Campbell (violin/fiddle) and Dan Parsons (pedal steel).
"I co-produced and mixed Josh Rennie-Hynes' album at the same location in the month before doing mine, so as soon as we wrapped up recording his, we got stuck into mine," Grady said in a statement. "Killed two birds with one stone, so to speak."
Masterful multi-tasker that he obviously is, Grady has preceded the album's release with a pair of singles, So Long and What Are You Doing Tonight, the former of which has a new video premiering on The Music today. The clip was created by Luke Constable, with assistance from Parsons, and filmed locally in Brunswick. Give it a burl at the top of the page if you haven't already.
