Naarm-based Afrodelik artist delivers a dance party themed music video for standout cut from new album.
We’ve been big fans of Immy Owusu this year here at Pilerats, with his feelgood, uplifting take on Highlife sounds proving to be truly infectious, as heard on his debut full-length album, LO-LIFE!
Inspired by innovative, influential West African legends like Ebo Taylor and William Onyeabor, Immy also takes cues from psychedelic troubadours like Rodriguez, resulting in his unique sound that he’s coined “lo-fi highlife”.
This sound is perfectly encapsulated on his single The World Is Here For You (that we premiered back in June), and now to come full circle, Owusu has readied a vibrant, dance party themed music video that we’re stoked to be premiering once again!
Immy explains "I got a bunch of my friends from the Geelong and Surfcoast creative scene to rock up and dance to my song. These people have really supported me throughout my musical career and I loved seeing them moving their bodies to my song with such energy and passion.

It’s actually quite funny that no Africans rocked up to the shoot, only Obronis. (Ghanaian word for westerners/foreigners.) We decided to just run with it as the vibe and energy was great.
This music video is dedicated to our dear friend Darci, who tragically passed away earlier this year. We know she was dancing there with us in spirit."
