VIDEO PREMIERE: Casey Marie - Demons

Up-and-coming Brisbane artist Casey Marie is an astoundingly mature artist for her age — she's all of 19 years old — and it shows beautifully in her sublime new song and clip, Demons.

Premiering on theMusic.com.au today, the tune taps into some pretty personal themes for the emergent songstress, who explained in a statement of the song's origins: "For the past two years, I've battled with anxiety and depression, sometimes to the point where I've been unable to work or perform."

"This song was one of my coping mechanisms to help me through the darkest moments," she said.

The central Qld-bred singer-songwriter included the track on her second EP, released mid-last year, and it signifies something of an evident change in direction as she evolves from the more minimal vibes found on her 2015 debut, When A Man Brings You Down.

Marie has enjoyed a solid rise in renown over the past couple of years, cutting her teeth with a series of cover videos posted to Facebook before branching out with her original material. She's appeared at several festivals in her home state and has collaborated with ARIA-nominated producer Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray, Busby Marou, The Beautiful Girls).

She's currently writing music for her third EP, with plans to hit the road in the near future. Check her out on Facebook and keep your eyes peeled for further movements from this talented young artist.
