The tune is the title track and finale from the band's recently released debut EP.

More Borneo More Borneo

Sydney five-piece Borneo have unveiled the video for their addictive new single Alert!, taken from their recently released debut EP of the same name.

The song and its accompanying clip both take cues from a bygone era, the latter using a mixture of retro stock footage, vintage effects and a Lynchian sensibility to create a world that aptly accompanies the song's old-school psych-dappled, post-punk(ish) stomping ground.

Band spokesman Tubby John explained in a statement that the tune is their debut's "finale", its clip "demanding answers of the audience to the age-old question: 'Are you the spaghetti or are you the can?'"

"The song and video are an attempt to create a feeling of suffocation in an audience, to the point where we hope to hear about viewers combusting into their own sense of freedom," he said.

Having already knocked over an east coast tour in support of their debut, Borneo have a string of shows on the horizon to boot, starting off with a show in Alice Springs on 1 October before heading to Byron Bay, the Gold Coast (with The Belligerents and Bootleg Rascal) and Sydney (with Balko).

The band are clearly not the sort to be content to rest on their laurels, either, with their follow-up EP already close to complete and scheduled for release in early 2018.
