SINGLE PREMIERE: Lisa Caruso - 'A Holiday'

Sydney artist Lisa Caruso today shares her brand new track, A Holiday, premiering exclusively with theMusic.com.au.

"My producer Ben was in town so we had a couple of days to do some more recording of the album. There was still a bit of ‘finishing’ of songs to do, but I wanted to give this half written song a go," Caruso shares.

"Working with our engineer at his place on demo day, we managed to get the skeleton of the song with new parts down in about an hour or so. It was super hot so maybe there lay the inspiration! 

"For me, this song became largely about the different vocal layers, and then when Ben doubled the guitar line with his Jazzmaster, it made for a serious party. It was very exciting. We smashed it out in the studio the next day with one of my favourite drummers, Miles Thomas, and then Ben and I recorded the rest. I had a go at the vocal, but in the end, we decided to use the demo take. Sweat box rooms and arranging on the cuff for the win! Hah, like magic!" she continues.

"I'd love to record the next album similarly to how we did this track. It's hugely satisfying to create something you're happy with in a short period of time. To not overthink every part, and just run with the feeling is definitely the way to go for me. A Holiday became a bit of a hero, setting the tone and a different kind of expectation for the remainder of the songs."
