Single Focus: Nicole Cross

"White Walls is about escaping the confinement of my white-walled apartment, leaving my pharmacy profession and pursuing my music career."

Single title? White Walls

What's the song about? White Walls is about escaping the confinement of my white-walled apartment, leaving my pharmacy profession and pursuing my music career.

How long did it take to write/record? White Walls came naturally, taking about 60 minutes to write during a rollercoaster of emotions that took over when I decided to walk away from my pharmacy profession. Recording took just over two weeks.

Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? White Walls in one of four tracks released in October 2015 on my debut EP Little Birds

What was inspiring you during the song's writing and recording? My white-walled apartment and pharmacy career inspired this song. I wanted to strip back, travel, sing and have colour in my life. During production, our vision for the song was for a daydream-like feel.

We'll like this song if we like... Going on adventures.

Do you play it differently live? White Walls live is quite true to the recording — minus the xylophone, clicking and whistling (if only I could do all of these things while playing and singing).
