Ascendant Sydneysiders Big White are extending the reach of the buzz that surrounds them all the way up to our neighbours to the north in Japan, by way of a new Japanese-market video clip for their recent jangly single You Know I Love You, proudly premiering on The Music today.
Not only that, but the back-to-back SXSW drawcards have revealed exclusively that they're mere weeks away from releasing their debut full-length, Teenage Dreams, Down Under — it hit the US back in March last year on Burger Records following the band's international signing deal — via Caroline Australia, with a scheduled release date of Friday 18 March this year. The release will come concurrent with their appearance at SXSW 2016, or "the band Olympics", as member Jack Wotton describes it, expressing excitement at the prospect of more "hot nights on 5th and East Chavez".
With a calendar year behind them that saw the band conquer the south-west US, international festival stages and complete their first-ever headline tour of Australia, it's not an outrageous expectation that 2016 will yield even greater success for the rising outfit.
As for You Know I Love You's videographic do-over, the band re-envisioned the video following a visit from a childhood friend of keyboardist/vocalist Elmo Aoyama, a moment at which the musician realised her past and present lives had unexpectedly converged for the first time.

"When we filmed the original video for You Know I Love You, my best friend from primary school was visiting from Japan and witnessed the entire scene from the back of the room," Aoyama said in a statement. "It was the point where my childhood and current life collided, unexpectedly yet seamlessly, in our big white house.
"Shot back in April [last] year, the original video and the people within it remain trapped in that specific moment of time. The new figures dancing in the foreground are sharper with a bit more edge, singing the same words with different meaning now, though the past is not forgotten."
The Japanese version of You Know I Love You will appear as a B-side on a forthcoming limited-edition 7" — Dinosaur City, launched in Sydney and Melbourne at the end of last year — which is out now and available here.
Pre-orders for Teenage Dreams commence via Caroline Australia on Wednesday 3 February. See Caroline's website for more information.
