We get to know rising star Stevie Jean to talk all about her brand new single, 'Bored'.
Having first fallen in love with Stevie Jean last year after hearing her Tasman Keith-collaboration, 'Prey', we're very excited to see she's back better than ever in 2020. Recently releasing her latest single, 'Bored', we once again hear Stevie infuse rock n roll with heartfelt pop sensibilities, employing her soaring vocals over thumping drums and a fuzzed out guitar to make for a dirty, gritty banger.
"Women have so often bitten their tongues and put themselves second to appease a partner or family member. I believe that unadulterated honesty can be revolutionary and freeing. I’m going to do what I want to do and you’re going to have to deal with it," said Stevie.
Building on from her 2019 EP, Blame Game, she continues her ascent as a serious act to watch with 'Bored'. Before she blows up, we wanted to dig a little deeper into her world, so we asked a couple of questions to get to know her better. Check it all out below and listen to 'Bored' right here:

Who are you?
I am Stavroula Kyriacou a. k. a. Stevie Jean. Pick a name. I got lots
How did Stevie Jean come to be?
I grew up entrenched in art and nature. My mother raised my brother and I to see these two ideas as essential to living. My father raised us on respect and work ethic. I just followed the path to where I am now. I work hard because it gives me purpose.
What are we talking, vibes-wise?
Rock N Roll, hip hop, soul, RnB. I make music that allows me to feel screwed up and powerful at the same time.
Tell us more about your single, Bored?
Bored is brutal honesty. It’s speaking your truth without softening it for the person who here’s it. Bored is “here’s the truth. Good luck with it.”
What can we expect from you in the months ahead?
I’ve got soooooo much music to release this year! Currently though, I’m starring in a theatre production in Sydney called CUSP. It’s on at Griffin Theatre from the 12th until the 29th of March, 2020.
