Gold Coasters feeel have been messing with minds and bodies for four years. Their unique mix of massive guitars and percolating rhythms has taken them to the US where they worked with Gun ’n Roses engineer Tommy D. feeel’s new disc, The Big Get Back, sets out to capture the true live essence of the band, and gets an official launch at in the new year.

“The studio environment can be a sterile one,” explains vocalist Mr Sean. “As a vocalist, I've never been 100% comfortable during the recording process. Personally I think the live arena is the preferred method for getting myself across to the listener. That said, this recording has by far the best impact and emotion that we as a unit have committed to disc. Our music has always aimed at being felt, not heard (hence the name) and if you don't feeel this recording you've got frostbite or some shit.”

How would you like people to react when they hear your music?

Hopefully they hear something fresh. If a lyric or a certain rhythm touches someone, positive or negative, it makes it worthwhile. Sure, I'm making this music for me essentially; but if my words give someone hope or an answer somewhere in there - that's real audience participation and the music you've made/the emotion you pour into it sort of comes full circle. We like to play to a crowd who can keep up with us. We are a very physical band onstage and I'm often asked how come I move the way I do. I just do what the music tells me to do.”

Did the Devil make you do it?

“I don't think any of the guys in the band are very religious. I certainly am not. But if there is a devil, I'm sure he has a hand in some of my lyrics.”

Can you give us the inside story on your recent trip to the US?

“We did a West Coast tour (from San Fran to San Diego) staying and playing mostly in LA. We saved our arses off to get there and do it, but it was well worth it. We played our own shows with local acts there (we saw heaps of famous names and faces, but that would just be skiting) and to be honest 90% of the bands we played with couldn't hold a candle to some of the local talent here. We're returning to LA for their summer.”

How should one feel after an extra e?

“Rooted.”
