British singer-songwriter delivers delightful fifth album of uplifting indie-folk abstractions + new albums from Billy Nomates, Declaime & Madlib, Margo Price, Giant Swan and more.
Rozi Plain’s fifth album Prize is both her most intimate and complete record to date, sounding like the culmination of her quirky, experimental takes on the broader “indie pop” genre. For the last decade and a half, Plain has been honing her craft both on her solo records and as a member of the awesome alt-folk group This Is The Kit, as well as regularly collaborating with Rachel Dadd and Francois & the Atlas Mountains.
On Prize, across 10 glorious compositions Plain showcases her skills as a songwriter and musician, having stripped back just a tad from the more sonic collage-featuring sounds of past albums and letting her jazzy, melodic, ambient-inflected take on indie-folk do the talking. And you're gonna wanna listen.
