Fabian Lapham & The Actual Musicians

"My band are much more talented than me, so I like to make myself feel like a big man by insulting them."

Answered by: Fabian Lapham

Can you give us a tweet-length summary of your show? A turducken of comedy: sketch stuffed into live music stuffed into storytelling that's then stuffed into your fat fucking mind-mouth.

What do you find funny? I enjoy the broad spectrum of comedy: wordplay, satire, slapstick, character-based stuff... I'm a big ol' comedy-slut, and I hope that whorishness comes across in my work.

What do you find unfunny? That guy who doesn't understand understated delivery, so he makes the exact same joke you just made only more obvious, and all his dumb jerk friends laugh. That or bigotry.

What's a ridiculous situation you've been in that you got a joke out of? My life is usually quite banal, so I sometimes think things like, 'This train ride would be so much better if I was a motherfucking robot'. Boredom begets material.

Do you have a pre-show ritual? My band are much more talented than me, so I like to make myself feel like a big man by insulting them. Really awful stuff, often personal, sometimes racial.
