Karnivool are one of Australia's finest prog rock exports. Hailing from Perth, the band has reached incredible heights, representing Australia by touring all over the world, playing at some of the world's biggest music festivals. Guitarist Mark Hosking took some time to chat to killyourstereo.com about the group's new album 'Asymmetry,' and the upcoming 'Polymorphism' tour with fellow local acts Dead Letter Circus and sleepmakeswaves.

"Karnivool paved the way for Perth prog rock, and in front of a sold-out home crowd, they proved they’re still laying down the foundations for what will hopefully be a long time to come."

Every member of Karnivool is the master of their instrument, Ian Kenny’s perfect pitch defying the idea of human error, and even the backup vocals and secondary instrumentation from the guitarists can’t be faulted.

Finishing on one of the new album’s highlights, Aeons, provided one of those spine-tingling Karnivool moments.

Not to say that Sound Awake wasn’t a good album, but it definitely didn’t capture the purpose that made Themata so loved. Asymmetry is different.

The result: Purely said, Asymmetry is awesome.
