Music Victoria CEO and Spiderbait manager Fiona Duncan unpacks why the state's grassroots scene needs a ticket levy.

The grants are part of a $35.4 million package in the Victorian Budget 2023/24 to support the local music industry.

Alice Ivy will unpack her latest album, 'Do What Makes You Happy,' for Music Victoria's new event series.

"This Budget continues our commitment to driving down spend on inefficient and non-priority programs," State Treasurer Jaclyn Symes MP told the Victorian public last week.

“We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we evolve through these changes," said CEO Fiona Duncan.

After more than 30 years as a prominent local, national, and international industry figure, Fiona Duncan now adds CEO of Music Victoria to her storied resumé.

“Victoria’s music festivals are the lifeblood of communities across our state,” said Minister for Creative Industries Colin Brooks.

"We have achieved some great outcomes, and it is a bittersweet moment that I announce my departure."

Iconic musician Ollie Olsen and legendary music youth organisation The Push will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame for their impact on the Victorian music scene.

Artists, venues, and festivals can submit themselves for consideration for this year’s awards from today until Friday, 19 July.
