The Sydney outfit will open for US alternatives

The sheer muscle of the band’s performance is unbalancing. While somewhat abstract and romantic on record, PVT’s live aesthetic is one of stomach-clenching grunt.

Their lead singer says they aren’t anything like Battles or Aphex Twin.

Pike sounds comfortable fronting a band that is clearly doing what they love, despite what anyone else may expect from them.

"We wanted to walk in with more material under our belts and firmer idea of our direction… I mean, you never really know what you’re aiming for, but we wanted to have some kind of ballpark area in mind for this album.”

It will probably take longer to grow on a listener than any of the band’s previous albums. However, it’s almost certainly their best.

A solid release that shows the band growing comfortable with a new range of compositions and Pike settling into his role of frontman.

This is relevant, living, music lying between humanity and construction – the organic and the artificial.
