“I think SBS wants to try new things..."
RocKwiz host Julia Zemiro has today shared that producers are unsure of the popular music program's future after broadcaster SBS has taken a two-year break on the show.
In an interview with TV Tonight, Zemiro said that they would like to see a "proper" farewell for the show should the network not want to go ahead with more seasons.
“I think SBS wants to try new things, but we are still talking,” she said in the interview.
“I think we would like one big farewell. If they really are done we would like to do a proper goodbye. But it’s like they don’t really want to shut the door.”
Brian Nankervis, who co-created the show and also co-hosts with Zemiro, shared that “They [SBS] are not recommissioning with the current budget.”
Nankervis is hopeful that the show's successful live performance series will be enough to sway the network to renew the series, saying “Maybe SBS will find some money in the next budget.”
