“His warmth and charm was quick to infect so many people,”
Melbourne outfit The Ocean Party have confirmed the sudden and tragic passing of 24-year-old drummer Zac Denton after he was admitted to hospital on Sunday evening.
Denton was said to have gone to St. Vincents hospital due to a migraine, with brain scans showing a cyst blocking the fluids from draining from his brain.
“The doctors did what they could to relieve the fluid but swelling of the brain was too much,” a Facebook post from the band reads.
Denton joined the band back in 2012 and also played in Ciggie Witch, Pregnancy and Hobby Farm, contributing to more than 10 albums, including the new Ocean Party LP, The Oddfellows’ Hall, which the band has now released early and made available for free.
The band said the new album features “two of Zac’s most beautiful songs to date in Home and Rain On Tin. They reflect on his love for his family and his home town and a desire to let them know the love felt towards them.”
“His warmth and charm was quick to infect so many people,” the statement also reads.
