This event has slowly built from a small gathering in the laneways of Fremantle to a strong, mini music and cultural festival, featuring some of the city’s best independent music acts. This year, Hideous Sun Demon, Koi Child, Elli Schoen, Kings Justice, Indecision, 3 Minutes of Kaos, Current Mood, Children Under 3, In Denial, and more are all set to play under the Norfolk Pines. There’s also skating and parkour workshops, skate contests (with prizes) Dismantle’s annual bicycle Tweed Run (actually hilarious and mostly self explanatory

As is often with bands around these parts (and everywhere, I guess), the members who form WA dream-pop-garage-surf rockers Gunns play in a bunch of other bands. The reason I point this out in this instance is that two of the team (Hamish and James) you - hopefully - know by now as our own garage-rock slackers HAMJAM. Shiner gets some stellar re-works ahead of Indian Summer's debut US tour.. A couple of weeks ago we had the honour of premiering the Akouo remix of Indian Summer's dancefloor-destroying single Shiner feat. Ginger & The Ghost, and now the full remix package is available, just in time for the lads to embark on their maiden voyage of the US. Two of Aus' hip hop's finest get intimate via text message.. With Allday currently running around the country on his sold out tour, and Perth MC Mathas joining Joelistics on his Australian tour, we thought it was time the two got to know each other a little better. Mathas is a WA hip hop king, part of the good crew at Community Records and one of the nicest chaps you'll ever come across, while Alldeezy is scheduled in to play our own Wonderland Festival in December, which you can imagine we're quite excited about. Pop music pervert Ariel Pink is rocking a few shows after his Sugar Mountain appearance.. Currently celebrating his latest album pom pom, Ariel Pink has released the second single from it - Black Ballerina, coinciding with the announcement he'll be hanging around in Australia following his appearance at the just announced - and completely awesome - Sugar Mountain Festival (lineup details HERE). Black Ballerina continues Pink's weird and wonderful exploration into the world of pop, a theme that abounds on pom pom, his exciting return to Ariel Pink in solo form.
