Fremantle’s (semi) new Youth Plaza / Skate Park is set to get a workout this weekend thanks to the Norfolk Lanes Youth Festival. This event has slowly built from a small gathering in the laneways of Fremantle to a strong, mini music and cultural festival, featuring some of the city’s best independent music acts. This year, Hideous Sun Demon, Koi Child, Elli Schoen, Kings Justice, Indecision, 3 Minutes of Kaos, Current Mood, Children Under 3, In Denial, and more are all set to play under the Norfolk Pines. There’s also skating and parkour workshops, skate contests (with prizes) Dismantle’s annual bicycle Tweed Run (actually hilarious and mostly self explanatory

As is often with bands around these parts (and everywhere, I guess), the members who form WA dream-pop-garage-surf rockers Gunns play in a bunch of other bands. The reason I point this out in this instance is that two of the team (Hamish and James) you - hopefully - know by now as our own garage-rock slackers HAMJAM. Shiner gets some stellar re-works ahead of Indian Summer's debut US tour.. A couple of weeks ago we had the honour of premiering the Akouo remix of Indian Summer's dancefloor-destroying single Shiner feat. Ginger & The Ghost, and now the full remix package is available, just in time for the lads to embark on their maiden voyage of the US. BBC Radio 1 is one dance music’s most iconic brands, and the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix is one of the world’s most loved and listened-to mix shows, and continues to hold respect despite the explosion of many more mix-based radio shows. It allows DJs and producers to really flex their muscles, demonstrate their versatility, and make expansive and memorable mixes, often full of unreleased tracks and exclusive dubs. Two of Aus' hip hop's finest get intimate via text message.. With Allday currently running around the country on his sold out tour, and Perth MC Mathas joining Joelistics on his Australian tour, we thought it was time the two got to know each other a little better. Mathas is a WA hip hop king, part of the good crew at Community Records and one of the nicest chaps you'll ever come across, while Alldeezy is scheduled in to play our own Wonderland Festival in December, which you can imagine we're quite excited about. We'll leave it over to the two wordsmiths from here, discussing hometowns, Bunbury hip hop shows and staunching in Adelaide.

Montgomery's first official tune gets its first official video clip.. Following the announce of Queensland-based singer Montgomery joining the I OH YOU family earlier this year, we've been eagerly anticipating her debut EP release, New Clear War, which is out tomorrow (October 24). We originally fell in love with first release War Cry, with a crush that only grew with the follow up, Pinata. Keeping in line with the melancholic electronica sounds we've heard so far, the video clip is an equally moody affair (helped by the black & white aesthetic and somewhat mundane setting). Australia's best-looking boy band is finally hitting the road again.. Brisbane four piece Millions are hittin' the old dusty trail over November and December for their For Your Leisure & Pleasure Tour, bringing their swoonworthy brand of indie-pop swagger to a stage near you. They'll be erforming songs from their debut LP, Max Relax, an album spearheaded by juicy first single Clementine, along with a host of other jams like Writing On The Wall and Good Things Never Last. Their live chops will no doubt be in good check, having just completed a national run with label mates Ball Park Music, and they'll be joined by fellow guitar-pop chaps High-tails.
