"The last round of touring was just the best round of touring I’ve ever done. In terms of the band I had I just felt like we were totally killing it; I just felt like we’d really hit our stride."

With production from Sam Ford (Pond), Abbe May has turned out a thought-provoking and hugely provocative album. The ballsy, I’ll-do-what-I-want approach suits her.

"We finished the mastering of the record for vinyl and CD and mp3 in January or February this year. It took ten times to master the album. It cost a lot of fuckin’ money."

"I think the record hopefully won’t turn people off but there will be some more serious stuff – there’s two ballads in there."

There are certainly moments where the acoustic/synth/sporadic guitar riff combo gel well with Keith’s steady vocal, though on a whole When It Was Now just feels quite plain.

Nightswim, however, will grow with time, as no doubt Addamo will.

"Putting on a tour, it’s the biggest capital gamble you can do; it’s all about bums on seats and selling tickets – it’s pretty hard work, so to get someone to underwrite the tour, it’s a blessing really."
