I Am Kloot may not have the popularity or sales figures of their Mancunian counterparts, but another solid showing here proves them to be no less consistent or charming.

At the end of the day the trilogy feels more like an attempt to mask a dearth of social currency with volume not quality. And just because you can do that it doesn’t mean that you should.

"The way you make a record is for everybody to have a say and Nick was hands-on for sure, but at the same time he recognised that this was our band and that we’ve all made a lot of records without him. It wasn’t difficult to manoeuvre that."

As Almqvist parts the crowd and sits us all down during closer Tick Tick Boom, he takes the time once again to review his own show, humbly giving it 1000 out of five. No arguments here.

Before you know it, he’s humbly bowing to the crowd who beam wildly back at him, safe in the knowledge that our musical export industry is in the capable hands of this quirky, peerless wizard.

"There’s about a million micro genres of rock out there and people will very easily find distinctions there but there’s only maybe a dozen of us playing soul and each band is so different. I think it’s great. I love soul music so I think it’s fantastic.”
