It doesn’t always hold up to scrutiny, but Toy deserves plaudits for trying.

Album Title Goes Here is banal and clichéd. Its basic techno, house, (terrible) hip hop and dubstep for the uneducated or those with little or no appreciation of electronic music.

Fights remains steeped in Somers’ rustic take on low laments, yet it’s clear that it is also a release, a successful sojourn of the self.

Banks has its moments, but as a complete body of work it doesn’t hold enough edge or depth to really shake the idea that you’re just listening to some strange Interpol B-sides.

While there are small highlights along the way (notably the single Looking Hot), this is for the most part a disappointing comeback album.

This collection could have been a complete debacle if handled in the wrong manner, but all involved have invested enough of themselves to ultimately make it a solid collection of songs reflecting the innate drama of the male/female dichotomy.

The trio are buzzing with creative energy and verve.
